Espe here,
Day 3 of our trip and we are finally getting under way. We have made it safely to Sedona, Arizona and this place will never get old. Sedona is SO beautiful and colorful that the scenery looks so fake. Almost as if you are on the set of a Hollywood film.
Our plan for the day was to finally get hiking and hit an off-road trail. We wanted to start off with an easy hike since it has been a while since our last hike and the temperatures were going to be in the high 80’s. The hike that we ended up doing is called Boynton Canyon Trail. This trail took us through a beautiful canyon that is located right in Sedona.

To be completely honest I was so tired from the days before that I did not want to do anything at all. I thought that I would just be able to relax in the car all day while Gustavo drove on the 4×4 trails. However, Gustavo really wanted to do this hike so I was basically forced. We started the hike around 12:00 pm and at this point it is already hot as hell outside and I was totally not feeling it. The entire first half Gustavo said that I looked like a mopey child who’s parents forced them to come along on the hike. Although I may have looked like that, let’s keep in mind that I am used to my baking job schedule and at 12:00 pm on a regular day I am usually napping. So, there’s my excuse for that one. Lol.
After trying to convince Gustavo about 3 times that we should just turn around we had already made it ¾ of the way to the peak of the hike so I guess I was going all the way on this one….

Water break because it was way too Hot!
Funny, not funny, side note: Gustavo actually picked this hike and purposely “forgot” to tell me that the last ½ mile was completely UPHILL.
Gustavo definitely knew that I would not have even left the parking lot had I known this small, but important detail. So, Gustavo had a huge laugh when I asked some other hikers on the trail how much longer it was until the end and they replied “Well, you’re almost to the point where it starts getting steep. So, about 30 more minutes uphill” ……….… I was like, Excuse me??????? (Immediately turns back to Gustavo who has a ginormous grin on his face and flips him off)

Gustavo running because I wanted to slap him. JK…. kinda.
I was already in too deep at this point so all I could do was throw a tiny fit and then we started our ascend. Once we finally got to the top of the canyon my shirt was drenched, but we were able to relax a while, enjoy the view, and eat some lunch. (My favorite part!) I do have to say that this hike was well worth it and although the view wasn’t the prettiest, it was definitely very peaceful and relaxing looking over the entire canyon.

At the end of the trail, Overlooking Boynton Canyon.

After we finished up the hike, we did a little off-road trail that took us through the back-country of Sedona and we drove through some beautiful red rock land forms.

Once it was finally time for dinner we already had the perfect spot in mind. We headed straight to a place called Sedona Pizza & Pasta Company. We had first tried this place the last time that we visited Sedona and ever since then Gustavo has been craving their oven-fired pepperoni pizza with pancetta on top! There are so many other great restaurants in Sedona, however, we are major pizza lovers and we have to say that this is the best pizza in town!

We ended the day with some ice cream and we walked around town checking out the local shops. Overall, our first day of exploring went pretty great! Sedona gave us another amazing visit and we will definitely have to spend more time here the next time we come.
Peace & Love,
Espe
