Sunday May 28th,
Today, Gustavo and I had an early start as we left Sedona and headed for Page, Arizona. The drive from Sedona to Page was about 3 hours and as soon as we arrived we checked into our campsite and prepared some lunch. Yummm!

Page Lake Powell Campground. Page, Arizona.
After taking a short rest, we wanted to explore the nearby lake and see what it was all about. The lake in Page is called Lake Powell and it is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. This lake is very unique as it is a man-made reservoir and has 186 miles of brightly colored cliffs. We were able to make it down to the water and Gustavo really enjoyed being able to cool off in the 90 degree weather.

At around 6:00 pm we left the lake and checked out a cool view point. It gave a pretty nice view of the canyon and the Glen Canyon Dam was also visible.

Now, many people are really amazed by dams and think they are so cool. But, personally, I highly disagree with the use of dams (but that’s a whole other topic we’ll just save for another time). I did get some photos of the dam just because of how massive it actually is and so we could share the sight with you guys.

At around 6:30 pm we noticed that the sun was starting to go down and it was the perfect time to see the infamous Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe Bend is a “bucket list” destination for many people, including ourselves. We have wanted to visit this place for years now and we knew that we could not have passed it up on this trip. From the viewpoint you can see where the Colorado River carved through the canyon creating the unique horseshoe shape and it is absolutely stunning.

Pictures will never do this place justice and we highly recommend for everybody to go and check this place out! Although the hike is a little steep, it is not very long, only about 1 mile, and it is SO worth it. Gustavo and I got to the viewpoint right before sunset and we were able to set up a little blanket with some snacks and enjoy the breathtaking view.

Gustavo was actually able to get a very cool time-lapse on the GoPro. (We will be posting it soon on our Instagram page and you can follow us there by clicking on the Instagram icon at the bottom of this page!)

This view was the perfect was to end the day and all there was left to do was get back to camp, cook dinner, & call it a day.
